Antifoul Removal & New

MarineWorks provides complete antifouling protective coating systems tailored to your boat’s conditions, requirements, and budget. We antifoul all hull types including timber, fibreglass, steel, and aluminium.

It’s always recommended to use a high quality antifouling system, particularly in Queensland. Warmer water promotes growth, so if you don’t use your boat (especially over summer) it won't take long for nasty growth to flourish. A clean hull means maximum speed, good fuel consumption and less hardstand time.

Film thickness plays a big part in antifouling. If the film thickness is not at specification, your boat will not travel in the water as well as it should. This is why we spray all boats with 2 coats of antifoul, plus a 3rd around the waterline leading edges and propeller area. Antifouling typically lasts 12–24 months depending on which product is chosen.

We use a range of brands to suit your requirements, including International, Ameron, Jotun, Altex, Wattyl, Newport and Hempel

If required, we can also completely remove the old antifoul quickly and efficiently by soda stripping in an environmentally-friendly manner. Using soda stripping, an average boat is prepared one day and ready for sanding the next. A fast and efficient job means lower hardstand cost.

All of our new antifoul systems get a minimum of 3 coats of water barrier/epoxy followed by a tie coat and 2 coats of antifouling, as well as a 3rd to the water line and all leading edges and high wear areas. The epoxy system is an essential part of the process to ensure the vessel is well protected.

Boat Repairs

MarineWorks offers comprehensive boat repairs for vessels up to 56ft, from minor cosmetic fixes to major structural work. Every repair is completed with attention to detail using high-quality materials, ensuring lasting performance and a clean, professional finish.

Fibreglass Repairs

Whether it’s minor cosmetic damage or a larger structural modification, we ensure every repair is completed to a high structural and cosmetic standard.

Fibreglass and resin technologies have come a long way from the 70’s and 80’s. We use the latest, best and strongest resins and fibreglass cloths to repair your vessel, so you can rest assured that the job will be done correctly.

Osmosis Repairs

From small blistering to full-scale osmosis treatment, MarineWorks has the experience and equipment to tackle osmosis correctly.

Osmosis can significantly impact the value and condition of your vessel, and the longer you leave it the more it will cost you in the long run. Proper repair is essential to prevent ongoing issues—osmosis must be repaired properly or it will just keep on appearing.

Insurance Repairs

We manage boat insurance repairs from start to finish, making the process as straightforward, time efficient and stress-free as possible.

Our team can inspect your vessel, prepare detailed quotes, and work directly with your surveyor/assessor and insurance company. Once approved, all repairs are completed to a high standard, with a focus on quality workmanship and a finish you’ll be thrilled with.

Timber Restoration & Decking

Timber exposed to Queensland’s UV and marine conditions will naturally break down over time without proper care.

We offer professional restoration and protection options to maintain both the appearance and longevity of your vessel’s timber. There are two main options:

  • Oiling
  • Varnishing

Teak is a naturally oily timber, so oiling is recommended—but if you love that classic timber shine then varnishing is for you. Both options can be professionally applied by MarineWorks.

Decking

To bring your deck back to life, surfaces will need to be sanded or washed using a teak restorer.

When sanding, remember it can only be done a few times as you are restricted to the thickness of teak. Decks can also be oiled.
